Compared with its 3D modeling competition, Autodesk Inventor got a late start out of the gate and has played catch-up since its first release. This time around, however, Inventor 11 has caught up with the competition in many respects, and in a couple of instances has surpassed it. Inventor 11 incorporates both the work of Autodesk developers and the fruits reaped from some of its acquisitions. This new version probably reflects the increased capabilities and options users can expect in the future, at least as far as the acquired technologies go. Inventor 11 is a result of all of the parts coming together, and it works in a cohesive and comprehensive manner.

Download Architectural Desktop 2007
It could probably be argued that the new Visual Styles Tools will have the greatest impact on those upgrading to Architectural Desktop 2007. The Rendering overhaul in AutoCAD® 2007 is a major improvement as well but for ADT users who have learned to use VizRender, it likely will have little impact. In fact, the new Material Tools are actually a bit of a pain to deal with because they don’t synchronize with VizRender/ADT Material Definition Styles; i.e., the settings are completely independent.

Download 3ds Max 9.0
3ds Max 9 is the first release since Autodesk acquired Alias and its flagship, Maya. I?ve been wondering how the two programs will start to meld into one. I?ve already seen it in Maya — baby steps toward uniformity.
Most of the time, I take a cursory glance at a new release and if something doesn?t scream ?change,? I?ll have to pull up the hood and start poking around to find the new stuff. In the case of Max 9, even after some deep poking, I found that it doesn?t have enormous changes in the tool set. It almost feels like a point upgrade. EXCEPT ? Max 9 is available in a 64-bit form as well as 32-bit. So, if you happen to be using Windows 64 on a 64-bit processor, you will see pretty substantial speed increases simply based on the fact that the software and processor can handle larger chunks of data at one time, not to mention raising the RAM limit to 8GB. To really benefit from this upgrade, it’s going to require updating your hardware as well. But, let?s take a look at the nice new tools that are common to both 64- and 32-bit programs.

Download AutoCAD 2007
It is terrific to at last be writing a review of AutoCAD without the customary complaint about its dismal 3D capabilities! After years of neglecting to overhaul them, the new release of AutoCAD finally gives 3D its due with a completely redesigned interface and new capabilities for conceptual and detailed 3D modeling. In fact, the primary focus of the new release is on 3D, so this review is, in essence, a review of AutoCAD 2007 as a 3D modeling and visualization application. Let’s see how it measures up to the capabilities of other 3D modeling solutions, many of which gained in popularity and established themselves primarily because the industry-leading CAD solution, AutoCAD, did not provide adequate 3D support before.
